About the Event
The Saginaw Conservation District is looking forward to hosting our first annual meeting in two years and we can't wait to reconnect with you! Come meet our new staff members, vote in the Board of Directors election and enjoy artisan pizza prepared by the Frankenmuth Farmers Market in their state of the art wood fired brick ovens.
We are excited to welcome David Karpovich, Ph. D. as our keynote speaker. David is an H. H. Dow Endowed Professor within the Department of Chemistry at Saginaw Valley State University and is the Director of the Saginaw Bay Environmental Science Institute. He will be speaking to us about the Saginaw Bay Monitoring Consortium (SBMC) newest project. SBMC has developed a much-needed, coordinated framework for water quality monitoring aimed at filling data gaps in the Saginaw Bay Watershed. The data collected will be used, along with ecosystem models, to inform and guide restoration and conservation actions aimed at reducing nutrient levels in the Saginaw Bay. David's presentation will outline the SBMC’s plans and report on current progress.
